Tips To Help Your Make Up Last

Primer
Using primer gives your foundation something to hold on to. You can also use certain primers to keep oil at bay. If you have oily skin (or an oily t-zone), apply the primer to those areas and it will help absorb the excess oil in your skin. This helps to keep your make up on longer. One of my favourites is Benefit’s Porefessional primer.

Eye Shadow Base
This is basically a primer for your eyes. They are designed especially for the delicate skin around your eyes. They help to keep your eye makeup in place and prevents it from fading/smudging. I personally think they allow for a much stronger pay off from your eye shadow too.
Translucent Powders/ Setting Powders
These are great for setting any liquid foundation/concealer. I mainly focus the powder under my eyes where I’ve applied concealer. This sets the concealer and prevents creasing. It has the added benefit of brightening the area, which is always welcome! Who wants dark circles?
My personal favourite is the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. I adore it and it’s one of my indulgences as it is one of the more expensive powders on the market (approx 42). The flip side is it lasts for ages – I’m still on my first tub, it looks full and I got it in May.
You can also choose a more pocket friendly brand such as Rimmel for your transluscent powder, and many brands have compact versions.

Setting Spray
Once you’ve finished your look, apply some setting spray all over your face. Even if you skip the steps above, this will go a long way towards ensuring your make up stays put all night. Some setting sprays I’ve used include
Nyx Matte Finish (my favourite, and it also comes in a dewy finish)
Mac Fix Plus
Urban Decay Make Up Setting Spray

In addition to these steps, I also like to use a full coverage foundation (see my post on foundations here) as I find they stay put all night. If you use all of the steps above, your makeup should still look great at the end of the night.
So that’s it guys, I hope you found this post helpful!
